13 - Ludovice Palace

It is a typical example of the international Italian model of secular urban palace. The baroque façade, with recoated molding windows, salient verandas and interrupted pediments, it presents a big scenography and an international plastic sense.

A belonging of Ludovice family, has the mark of this Germanic architect with Italian formation, that came to Portugal in service to King D. João V, to conceive the great palace-monastery of Mafra. Its construction is from 1747, and contributed to introit a most cosmopolitan and gracious new urban residence concept. Actually it is the Solar do Vinho do Porto and it is situated in Rua São Pedro de Alcântara, nr. 45.
