One of the biggest sculptures in Lisbon, it is situated in the center of the Commerce Square. It was ordered to make by Marquês de Pombal, in homage to D. José I (The King of Portugal in that date). It has 14 meters of height and it’s made in bronze. Like the entire square, all the figures represent the “victory” of the reconstruction of Lisbon, face to the destruction made by the Earthquake of 1755.
