The construction of the National S. Carlos Theatre (1792-1793), aimed the substitution of the theatre destroyed by the earthquake in Terreiro do Paço and to invigorate a new zone of Lisbon city, the Chiado, that in contrast with the Commerce Square (The financial center), was turned in the center of culture and leisure.
This work (inspired in the Milan Theatre) is signed by the Portuguese architect José da Costa e Silva. It is made with a tripartite door and linear framed windows.
